A belated blog post. Not sure where the time goes, it's been a hectic few weeks. Anyway delighted to say that the Urban Sketchers Manchester blog has been launched which has been taking up some of my time. You can find it here http://urbansketchers-manchester.blogspot.co.uk/ Also here is an illustration I recently did for Creative Tourist www.creativetourist.com to accompany an article on Manchester Cathedral.

BBC R4 Interview on Saturday 25th January
I will be talking about urban sketching on Radio 4's 'Saturday Live' this Saturday (25th January at 10am). James Hobbs who established Urban Sketchers London will be in the London studio and I will be at Media City's BBC North. Saturday also coincides with the 42nd Worldwide SketchCrawl and Manchester is participating for the first time. I am of course extremely nervous but will do my best to talk about sketching on location...I will then have to hot foot it to Manchester city centre as I will have missed the start of our Manchester Urban Sketching group's SketchCrawl No1. We're drawing from Victoria Station to Piccadilly Gardens. See the poster I have previously posted for more information but anyone is welcome to join us for all or part of the day.

Cornish sketches
Just back from north Cornwall. Here are a couple of my favorite sketches from the last week. The first is of the main harbour in Padstow and the second of Polzeath, which has a big surfing community and currently where our Prime Minister is on holiday!

Manchester International Festival...more sketches
What a fantastic 3 weeks, lucky enough to see Sir Kenneth Branagh and Alex Kingston in Macbeth, Adam Curtis v Massive Attack, Goldfrapp and Mogwai playing their original score to the film Zidane. And the venues...Mayfield depot architecturally stunning and Albert Hall, just perfect! Here are some more sketches drawn in Festival Square.

Sketching at Manchester International Festival's Festival Village
Two sketches and a photograph of me painting (taken by the very lovely Mr Len Grant). The first sketch was done at an RIBA 'Love Architecture' urban sketching workshop that I ran a couple of weeks back. Great turn out and much enthusiasm for urban sketching!
